Yes. Prize is free for every veteran, forever: no paid tier, no paywall, no card on file. We earn our revenue from the organizations that pay for tools to run their casework, never from veterans and never by selling your data. No organization can pay its way onto your shortlist, either.

Free means the whole thing: the three questions, your next step, your roadmap, your shortlist of vetted organizations, and connecting with them.

You always control what's shared and with whom. Nothing moves without your explicit consent, and every share is visible in a ledger and revocable. We use AES-256 encryption and undergo regular professional penetration testing. We never sell your data to third parties.

Prize does, and nobody can pay their way through it. A person on our team reviews every organization that's created or claimed on Prize, and every listing carries a quality score built from its public track record and, as veterans connect, its responsiveness and their feedback. You'll see at most three per need, ranked by fit.

The rest of the directory started from the National Resource Directory, the government's listing of veteran resources, and those listings are scored the same way. After you connect, your rating feeds that organization's score, which keeps the shortlist honest for the next veteran.

No. You start every connection on Prize. An organization can't message you or reach out until you choose to connect with them and approve exactly what they'll receive. Chat only opens with organizations you've connected with, and you can revoke what you've shared whenever you want.

You fill out your information once. Before you connect, you see which fields an organization is asking for and say yes or no, and it goes only where you send it.

All the major transition pillars: employment and career coaching, mental health and healthcare, education and training, housing assistance, benefits navigation, legal services, and more, matched to where you are, never more than three recommendations per need.

No. The full solo experience (the three questions, your next step, your roadmap) works without verification. Verifying (VA.gov sign-in or a DD-214 photo) unlocks connections to veteran-gated organizations, whenever you're ready.

It's open to veterans, service members, Guard and Reserve, and the people who support them, whether or not you're enrolled in VA benefits or health care. You don't need Prize or anything else first.

For most small veteran-serving teams, the real alternative isn't software at all: it's paper and spreadsheets. A directory lists you and stops there. Case-management systems are mostly built for large, mandated programs. No, and we won't promise you a number. Veterans start every connection on Prize. We make you reachable: your profile appears when a veteran's needs, location and eligibility fit what you do, and if they choose you, the connection arrives consented, with the intake information you asked for.

We'd rather tell you that straight than sell you a pipeline we can't guarantee. What the workbench does from your first connection is replace the paper intake, the spreadsheet tracker and the scramble at grant time. How often you're recommended grows with the number of veterans using the free app and with your quality score.

Prize matches on fit: a veteran's needs, location and eligibility against your services, service area, prequalification rules and quality score. Each veteran sees at most three organizations per need, ranked by fit, and anyone your rules exclude never sees you. Pay never buys rank; there's no boosted placement on any plan.

Your score starts from your public track record, like how complete and reachable your information is and your public ratings, and responsiveness and veteran feedback count for more as connections grow. Scores count from day one but only display once you claim your profile, so claiming is how you see where you stand.

Only what the veteran approves. When they connect, they see exactly which fields you've asked for and accept or decline before anything reaches you. Every share is logged and revocable. You never see their inner work in the app: their intake answers, reflections and private conversations stay theirs.

If a veteran revokes, what they shared stops reaching you right away; the case notes your team wrote stay in your records. Goals are shared only when a veteran chooses to, one organization at a time. Money buys configuration, never data: no plan unlocks more of anyone's information.

A grant-ready report is the numbers a funder asks for, already assembled: how many veterans you served, how fast you responded, and what happened for each of them. On Prize it builds itself from the work your team logs every day, so grant season stops meaning days of rebuilding spreadsheets.
